Light (poetry)

I drink wine
A lot.
I smoke
A lot.
I meditate
In my courtyard
A lot.
Bad dreams
At first
Then better ones come
As I sit with Buddha
In my garden
Better thoughts come too
Slowly
Then the epiphany
I see the moon clearly
I see the stars clearly
I still drink wine
Not as much
I still smoke
Just as much
I meditate more
And my dreams become clear

Weight (poetry)

Heavy dank fog
Encasing
A scarred heart
Dark and ominous
Hands grasp out for something tangible
I see it
I reach for it
A voice tells me to.
But when my fingers curl
There is only the moisture
Of tears
To grasp
I’m left,
with a fist
My fingers touching nothing
But the palm of my hand
Encircling particles
Of someone else’s
Fantasies…
And my own…
Lost.
